Homemade Soft Pretzals

In a small bowl mix:
4 t. yeast
1 t. brown sugar
1 ¼ c. warm water

Dissolve yeast and let stand 10 minutes.

In a large bowl combine:
4 c. flour
½ c. white sugar
1 ½ t. salt

Make a well in center of dry ingredients and add 1 T. veg. oil and yeast mixture. Mix well. Knead 7-8 min. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover. Let rise 1 hr. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Divide dough into 12 pieces. Roll into long ropes. Shape into pretzels.

In a pan, bring 1 c. water and 1 T. baking soda to a boil. Dip pretzels in boiling water for 5 seconds. Place on a greased baking sheet. Sprinkle with course salt. Bake 8 min. Dip in melted butter when done cooking and sprinkle on more salt, garlic salt or cinnamon sugar, etc.

*Hot dog pretzels:Instead of shaping into pretzels, wrap dough around hotdog and dip in water. Then bake.
